On August 19, KOMIB, together with Cyberdome, organized a visit to the information security hub by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Russia, Mr. Mohamed Yongavo.
The Ambassador got acquainted in detail with the capabilities of the Cyberdome and inspected the newest cyberpolygon. He highly appreciated the visibility of immersion in information security processes. The guest expressed interest in the possibility of creating a similar institute in Sierra Leone, focused on Africa in terms of launching regional educational programs, conducting hackathons, increasing the cyber literacy of society, etc.
During the visit, KOMIB Director for International Cooperation G. Akhmedov told the Ambassador about KOMIB's activities in cooperation with foreign partners in the field of information security in G2G and G2B formats. In particular, specific plans to enter into practical cooperation with government agencies in Sierra Leone in the foreseeable future were discussed.
Mr. M. Yongavo accepted an invitation to participate in the KOMIB round table, which will be held within the framework of the XVIII International Forum "Partnership of State, Business and Civil Society in ensuring Information Security". The Forum will be organized on September 16-18, 2024 by the Russian National Association for International Information Security (NAIIS) with the assistance of the office of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
The sides also discussed aspects of cooperation between KOMIB and the delegation of Sierra Leone at the upcoming ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in November this year, within the framework of which an information security round table is planned.
